We Can Help Today!

Express Thanet glazing experts offer a variety of safety glass services including toughened glass installations and replacements. Toughened glass will usually shatter into small fragments instead of sharp shards when broken, making it less likely to cause severe injury and deep lacerations. This is particularly useful for certain frames such as cat flaps, glass doors and tables.

Our Thanet toughened glass normally takes three to five working days to order in for both single and double-glazed options. This glass is recommended for Thanet residential customers, as the glass shatters into relatively harmless fragments upon impact, as opposed to the larger, more dangerous shards caused by breakage of normal glass. However, due to the security risk of having a large hole when the glass has been shattered, we do not recommend this for our Thanet commercial customers, whom we offer laminate glass to instead.

Example Of Our Glass Services

Cat & Dog Flaps
Given a sufficiently large pane of glass, we can manufacture and install a pane of glass, with a hole pre-cut for the flap. We cannot work on existing toughened glass (due to the high tension in the glass), any pressure applied to the glass would cause the destruction of the glass. It is possible to cut normal glass in situ, but as this is at the owner's own risk, it is not recommended. There must be a minimum clearance of 150mm between the edge of the glass, and the edge of the hole of the flap, so the glass is able to go through the toughening process and remain intact.
